Microsoft Visual Studio, an Integrated Development Environment

Microsoft Visual Studio is a full-featured integrated development environment that can be used for the development of computer programs for Windows, web applications, web sites, mobile applications, and web services.  Microsoft Visual Studio is a powerful platform for developing SQL Server, Azure SQL Data warehouse, and Azure SQL Database as well. Microsoft Visual Studio uses such software development platforms as Windows Forms, Windows API, Windows Store, Windows Presentation Foundation, and Microsoft Silverlight.

Microsoft Visual Studio has a code editor that uses IntelliSense (the code completion component that increases speed and accuracy) as well as code refactoring. There are other built-in tools such as an integrated debugger, a code profiler, a forms designer for building GUI applications, etc.

Multiple programming languages are supported. There are several built-in languages that include C, C++and C++/CLI (via Visual C++), C# (via Visual C#), VB.NET (via Visual Basic .NET), TypeScript (as of Visual Studio 2013 Update 2), and F# (as at Visual Studio 2010).  A language service can be installed separately to provide support for other programming languages such as Ruby, Python, M, and Node.js. The IDE can also support HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT, CSS, and JavaScript.
